Home activities: Gluing

After something like 30 weeks of fatigue, I’ve finally gotten round to getting the boys to do more activities at home. But just when I feel as if I’ve got into the groove of things, I caught a terrible bug from the boys and have lost my voice. So annoying!

Anyhow, I don’t know about your kids, but mine love to use copious amounts of everything – paint, glue, scotch tape…and everywhere! So in order not to have any heart attacks, I realised that the best thing to do is to e.g. buy paints in large bottles (as opposed to smaller ones), but buy quality materials so that they will wash off easily. And don’t invest in quality furniture so you can just replace everything without heart pain when the kids are like, oh, 20 years old? 😉

I recently found this great activity to practice gluing. I’ve always had trouble trying to get Mittens to using the right amount of glue – he always ends up putting glue everywhere and anywhere, so Mrs. Miner’s Kindergarten Monkey Business’s Top Secret Glue Procedures printables is the perfect activity for teaching a little glue discipline! It helps toddlers understand that sometimes we need a dab of glue, sometimes a glob, sometimes just dabs on four corners, and how to make a frame with glue. A great activity that doesn’t take up much time, but is certainly valuable. Mittens was not amused by me singing the accompanying song though haha!!
