Christmas is fast creeping up on us, and this year I’ve done very little prepping, apart from stocking up on wrapping paper from Ikea. As the boys grow older (or at least Mittens), and they learn more about Christmas, I’ve been borrowing books on Christmas (see: Christmas Reads), and we’ve also been watching some movies and specials on Christmas. This past week we’ve all been having a terrible cough, so it’s great to have some new movies/segments to watch. as we lead up to Christmas.
Out of the three, Shrek the Halls really had me in stitches and is probably the funniest of all the holiday specials. In true Shrek fashion the dialogue is wonderfully witty for the adults and entertaining for the kids. Merry Madagascar comes a close second, and although we love How To Train Your Dragon and Dragon Riders of Berk, Dragons Gift of the Night Fury is a little disappointing.
Ice Age – A Mammoth Christmas – Sid gets in trouble (again), and the gang invent the Naughty List and other shennanigans.
Kung Fu Panda Holiday – Jack Black is SO good as Po, and doesn’t disappoint in this little segment.
The Polar Express – the animation makes me feel awkward, because it strives to be realistic, except its very much not. Does that make sense? I can’t watch it without cringing somewhat.
Arthur Christmas – Very entertaining and explains how Santa delivers presents to everyone (go, elves!).
What do you watch at Christmas with your kids?
