We decided to have dinner at Pontini on a Saturday night because we have several Millenium Copthorne vouchers that we need to use up. We have eaten here before, but when it was under the helm of Chef Dominico Piras, not the new Chef Daniele Sarno. Actually, what mattered most was that we’d never had the Kids Menu before (of maybe they never had it before?), and this time I have to say it was pretty impressive.
First of all, take a look at the menu. Ok there might not be any colouring pages, but it’s still so cute lah. They have a whole 3 Little Pigs story in the menu, which I would have read to the boys except I’ve been down with a bad cough and haven’t had my normal voice in like 3 weeks.
Secondly, take a look at the prices. Pizzas from $10.50 and pastas from $12.90! Now let me remind you that this is NOT a Swensen’s or a mid-priced establishment, and the kids meals don’t come with a soft drink and ice cream, but I think kids could do with less sugar anyway. It also feels good to know that you’re feeding the kids with fresh produce and quality meats, some of which is even organic. The kids also all snapped up the freshly baked breads.
Thirdly, look at the size of that pizza! The manager said their pizzas are about 8-10 inches, and we’re glad we didn’t over order because we had to finish up the boys’ pizzas for them. The kids pastas are quite sizeable too, considering the adult pastas cost 3-4 times more (but of course it’s a different range of items).
For this dinner we took the whole family and also brought my MIL and nephew, so it looked like we had 4 kids! And I’m proud to say that we didn’t require any electronic devices at all during dinner, although there were several rounds of walks outside the restaurant, and to see the chefs in action making the pizza in the wood fire oven, etc that definitely helped. There is also plenty of space outside the restaurant area to explore and run around, and sofas for them to climb up and down, because you know how restless kids get. There is even an interesting aquarium of fishes on the same level at the Conference Centre area, and the kids enjoyed taking a look at that.
Apart from the kids menu, they have the usual high chairs for babies. I’m not sure if they have plastic cutlery because they didn’t offer them to us and we don’t really require them either. The only downside to Pontini? I feel a little sorry for the couple next to us who were trying to have a romantic special evening, ha! But we were not the only family with kids there. There are many other Italian restaurants in this price range, but this is definitely a strong contender in the kid-friendly category.

It’s good to know another kids-friendly restaurant in Singapore and serving organic food. It must be interesting to watch the chefs in action. Oh, I am surprised they closed on Sundays!
