Christmas Crackers at The Little Harvard Preschool

Aren't they cute??

Thanks to the the Little Harvard International Preschool, my boys attended a holiday speech and drama session, and they put up their very first performance EVER. Yes, their kindergarten has performances once a year for ONLY the K2s, so I was so thankful for the opportunity.

I was also so excited that it was going to be run by Daniel Jenkins, one of the directors of The Little Company, which is part of the Singapore Repertory Theatre. Daniel has been teaching children in Singapore for the last 13 years as head of the Julia Gabriel Centre of Learning and as Senior Teacher at Centre Stage School of the Arts, and is the producer of Red Riding Hood, Hello Adam, and many other productions that you’ve probably heard of. More importantly he is extremely engaging and one of the other mummies even said she wanted to participate in the fun! Christmas Crackers was a programme that my super shy Abacus who generally does not like new things or structured classes (other than school) took quite well to. There was a little bit of I-don’t-wanna-go on the third day, but he got over it very quickly, and was happy to participate after warming up. This is the boy who this year went to Berries classes from January to September and didn’t cry on perhaps 5 occasions (we’ve since taken a break and hope to try again when he’s more ready). For us it was a great achievement that he was able to let me leave his side, and he at least participated for half the performance.

Little Harvard International Preschool is located in a cozy shophouse in Upper Thomson, with their own indoor playground area and an outdoor water play area. They founded the school based on the Reggio approach, and everyday after the half-day programme I literally had to drag the boys away because they had so much fun playing with all the toys.

Even Scout was so busy every day playing with the toys and manipulatives!

Daniel runs their inhouse speech and programme at Little Harvard, which is integrated into their curriculum. If the school was in my neighbourhood, I’d be tempted to sign my kids up there :p
