Timbre Saturday Social BBQ review

You’ve heard of weekend brunches, have you heard of the Saturday Social BBQ? This is a bi-monthly event held at Timbre@Gillman, and from what I recall from Timbre from years ago, I wasn’t expecting something that I could bring my kids to.

This family friendly event happens every first and third Saturday of the month, from 4pm onwards and there are lots of fringe activities and who doesn’t love a good BBQ? There are lots of activities in the large open area to keep the kids occupied, and the activities vary from month to month. The weekend we went was leading up to Easter, so there was Easter egg hunts and crafts, a percussion workshop by the Timbre Music Academy, colouring, a huge bouncy castle, and lots more.

Do try and make a reservation in order not to be disappointed, and do go early to avoid the crowds as some of the activities tend to start wrapping up by around 7. We were a little late so we missed the Easter egg hunt. Aw. By that time the party was in full swing and the restaurant was really jam packed, although it was a little bit too packed the likings of reclusive families like ours who like to avoid crowds 😀

We quickly ordered some grub, and while waiting for it to arrive, the hubby and I got to enjoy some draft beer, while the kids occupied themselves with some activities. The food isn’t cheap, but we enjoyed everything that we had. They also have a large varied menu, so there is something for almost everyone. Fish and chips, pizza, pastas, etc. My favourite was the lamb, which the kids kept fighting with me for!

Shortly after dinner the live music performances by the Timbre Music Academy started, which was a first for the kids, and us adults really enjoyed it as well since it’s been a long time since we’ve been able to have any beer in hand with some good old live music.

Although they do provide patches and coils, you might want to still douse yourself with mosquito repellent if you’re as sweet as me 🙂

Munching Munchkins: Ocean Retaurant by Cat Cora™

Since we’d booked a staycation at Festive Hotel, and we had some dining vouchers from signing up with RWS Invites, we decided to have lunch at Ocean by Cat Cora™ (Serious stuff, got ™ some more, don’t play play). The restaurant was a little smaller than I’d imagined, and was rather busy on a school… Continue reading Munching Munchkins: Ocean Retaurant by Cat Cora™

Munching Munchkins: Bar Boulud, London UK

Before we arrived in London, I did a little research as to where to eat, and came across an interesting article (albeit a little dated) to get a feel of which of London’s  restaurants might welcome children since we would have Mittens with us. Mittens generally has a good temperament (especially when his little brother… Continue reading Munching Munchkins: Bar Boulud, London UK

Munching Munchkins: Paulaner Brahaus’s Sunday Brunch

Sunday Brunch is becoming quite an institution these days, isn’t it? Alongside bespoke coffee joints? Anyhow, we recently discovered the Sunday Brunch at Paulaner Brahaus, otherwise known as a Früshoppen. I’m sure like me, many of you will have not been to Paulaner in years. To be honest, it’s seldom that we really get a… Continue reading Munching Munchkins: Paulaner Brahaus’s Sunday Brunch
